Wow

"Just what comprises humanism is not a simple matter for analysis. Rationality is an indispensable part to be be sure, yet humanity includes emotionality, or the capacity to feel and suffer, to know pleasure, and it includes the capacity for aesthetic satisfaction ... his aspiration to feel significant and to have a sense of belonging in a world that is productive of much frustration. These at least are the properties of humanity."

-Richard Weaver, "Language Is Sermonic," (1963)

Apparently, all my emotional outbursts, sense of pain and frustration, desire for emotionally satisfying art, and longing for emotional connections outside my own brain DO make me human after all.

I Can't Stop Partying

DJ, you build me up
You break me down
My heart, it pounds
Yeah, you got me

With my hands up
You got me now
You got that sound
Yeah, you got me

With my hands up
Put your hands up...

I Wish

See me.
Feel me.
Touch me.
Heal me.

Listening to you,
I get the music.
Gazing at you,
I get the heat.
Following you,
I climb the mountains.
I get excitement at your feet.

Right behind you,
I see the millions.
On you,
I see the glory.
From you,
I get opinions.
From you,
I get the story.

Maintaining Radio Silence

As circumstances have recently become increasingly difficult on the
home front, we've decided to cease all unnecessary transmissions until
further notice. Once we receive the signal that sanity has been
properly restored, we will resume our usual broadcast schedule.

Many, many apologies.

More Things That Must Sell

Still on the auction block: hundreds of LPs and Comics collected over the last 20 odd years.

I cannot promise that they are of a high quality, or even that in demand, but they mean the world to me. Still, I must nonetheless part with them.

I am reluctant to list prices or anything, as I have no idea what they are worth in reality. But I am willing to make a deal with someone provided they will go to a good home and will be much loved and appreciated.

Please contact me immediately if you are into cheesy superhero comics from the '80's and '90's, or lame indie rock bands from roughly the same time period (mixed with a healthy dose of crappy radio-friendly-unit-shifters from previous decades).

Maybe I'm Selfish

... but I really don't care about Tiger Woods' 13 inch apology, the ghost of Jichael Mackson appearing in "We Are The World" Twenty-Ten, or which hot Olympian won which medal at the severely botched (and tape-delayed) Winter Olympics.  (And for the record: she's not.)

I do care about bureaucratic $100 charges on an account that was already closed and settled a month ago.  I do care about the complete lack of sympathy the world has for people who are struggling without a support network of any kind.  And I am absolutely concerned with the fact that every phone call, message, and e-mail I've gotten recently has been from a computer, and not a real person.

What a stupid planet we live on.

iPod For Sale

Now that I went and got a new phone that is an iPod / Computer / Homing Becon / Part Of The Borg Collective as well, I now have a piece of technology that is sitting around, collecting dust. It's a video iPod, black, that holds 80 GB of media. I paid a fair amount for it when I bought it new, and have been using it for about a year or so. Aside from a couple of skuff marks on the screen, it is more or less pristine.

I would love to sell it to someone who will actually use it and enjoy it. I will throw in a USB cable and fill it to the brim with music, too, if you so desire. As much as I love having around of piece of technology that I will probably never use again, I would also love to have some money, too.

Please contact me if you're interested. I'm asking for $150, as I paid quite a bit more for it when I bought it.

Talk to you soon.

There's Something You Don't See Everyday

On the bus today, I saw a heavy-set black woman with long, slender dreadlocks get on the bus. She was somewhere in her 20's or 30's, with a slightly sub-culture tinge to her dress. The only thing that really set her apart from the many other women I've seen who look like this was the poorly-applied white-face make-up she wore, like a circular bubble. She proceeded to pull out a 'zine, and read it for the duration of her 10-block trip.

Not a single person commented on this, during or after the ride.

Until now.

It's, Like, Dead Air. Completely Dead.

This one's a little late, but just in time for the weekend. A double shot of radio, both new and old. Ob-soive:

11 AM: Retrocast of "Time Bomb High School" (02/21/06)
(A repeat of one of my favorite episodes from 2006.)

Playlist & Footnotes (From 2006)

01 PM: Episode 056: The Dead Air Fresheners w/ Jennifer Robin, LIVE!
(Featuring a reading of Jennifer Robin's "Under the Mountain of Miniature Blue Monkeys" with accompanying music by The Dead Air Fresheners.)

This was a great pair of show, and offered me a great chance to run sound for them, AND take a few great shots of the band playing live. (Go to the end of the photoset to see the ones I took.)

Blasphuphmus Radio will be on hiatus again for the time being, due to a number of difficulties that are pointless to explain now. As soon as we're able to get the show back on track, you'll be the first to know.

Until then...

Cell Phone Advice

To add insult to injury, I need a new Cell Phone. (Of course.) While I initially resisted Cell Phones, I'm starting to get the urge for something a little fancier than the usual dial-text-camera variety. I thought I would stop into the phone store today, but was instantly assaulted with far too many things to choose from, all of which looked identical, and ranged in price from "next to free" to "way out of my price range."

So, what kind of fancy phones are there to choose from these days that are 1.) Durable, 2.) Reasonably Priced, and 3.) Provides Decent Service. All of these elements are variable (and, of course, are up to personal interpretation). Still, it was next to impossible to determine this from the info I saw in the store, and really, they will say anything to sell a phone.

So, I need recommendations. Please.

Thank you.

Homeless

If you have been keeping my address on file, you can now remove it from you Rolodex, as I no longer reside there. The Post Office will forward any mail sent there to a place where I can pick it up for the time being, but no one affiliated with me will be at that address any longer.

As soon as I get a new address of my own, you will be the next to know.

Thank you.
